Why it's free
Updated October 13, 2026
ParentNextStep is free for families. Companies pay us when you buy or ask for help through us, and we say so wherever it applies. What we suggest comes from your answers, not from what we earn.
Medical alert companies
When you tap “Check price” and buy a medical alert, the company may pay us a commission. The link passes through our site first (an address starting with /go/), which adds a code that tells the company the sale came from us. It never changes the price you pay.
Not every company pays us. Companies without a deal with us still appear in the matches and the comparison table, in the same order, and their button goes straight to their own website.
Our care partner
For home care and assisted living, our button takes you to Caring.com, where you can ask for a call from a free Family Advisor. Caring.com pays us when you request a call there. It doesn't cost you anything, and you're under no obligation to use any community or agency they suggest. You give your details to Caring.com on its own website; we never see them, and your answers to our questions aren't passed along.
Ads
Our pages on nursing homes and home health agencies may show ads. Ads never appear on the care matcher or its results.
What never changes
- Matches come only from your answers and the plan prices. No part of the ranking looks at what a company pays us.
- Nursing home and home health pages show Medicare's own ratings, sorted by Medicare's overall rating. Nobody can pay to move up.
- We don't sell your information. Your quiz answers stay in your browser and aren't saved.
